Q. What’s the difference between a semi-frameless & fully framed shower screen?
A. A semi-frameless shower screen uses toughened glass which has been cut to size, polished, and put through an intense heat process prior to delivery to us. It can no longer be cut or machined in any way. Some edges of the glass are framed and others are exposed.
All exposed edges have a smooth polished finish.
A fully framed screen uses laminated glass which can be cut to size on site.
Laminated glass must be framed to cover all edges.
Q. Do you shower screens comply with Australian Standards?
A. Yes, all our pre-made glass panels are stamped and certified with the Australian Standards. It is the same quality as glass made locally.
Q. What are the Australian Standards?
A. we take particular care to ensure that all our products are safe to use and that they comply with the Australian Standards. All our shower screen products adhere to the AS1288 standards and all our glass is stamped with the AS2208 certificate.
Q. What if I measured wrong, can I have my panels cut down?
A. No, you cannot cut toughened glass. Do not attempt this because the glass will shatter. The panels have been specially made to suit the opening requested & if you have incorrectly measured, you will need to re-order a new panel.
Q. What if my surface isn’t level?
Using a spirit level, measure your wall & floor surfaces. Fingers crossed the tiling is level for a clean finish! Unfortunately, a frameless shower screen has a low tolerance of 3/4mm & expert installation is highly recommended but our front & return kits have a high tolerances of up to 20mm.
Q. How do I know which style of shower screen will suit my space?
A. Whether you are looking to install one of shower screens that we sell, or another brand, it is important to make sure you measure first, then buy. One of the most common mistakes that we see when customers are shopping for shower screens is that they are buying what they like & not what will fit in their space.
- Not all shower doors provide flexibility for uneven walls & not all spaces all for an outward opening door.
- Any of the frameless shower doors are not going to provide an out-of-plumb adjustment, so that is important to keep in mind if your walls are not straight/plumb
- When choosing your height keep in mind the finished tile height. Will the shower be taller than the top tile? A personal choice, but we suggest lower to protect the life of your plaster.
- When choosing your door opening ie left hand or right hand, look where your vanity & towel rails are situated.
Q. Do you measure only?
A. If you are just unsure of the measuring process, a $30 measure only service is also available in the Loch Sport, Golden Beach, Paradise Beach & Seaspray. Just put through your order with your estimated size and choose the measure service & we will measure the door for you.
Q. Do the shower screens come custom made?
A. We do have a range London Boxes, Bath Screens & standard semi frameless front & return kits. Although these can not be custom made, they do have some adjustment & you may find one of these will suit your space. Alternatively, you can also mix & match to buy a front only & add a fixed panel to suit your measurements. But you also have the flexibility of having your panels custom made to your individual measurements, so we are able to accommodate measurements up to 2m high & 1m wide. However, if you require a wider panel you should email & we can contact our manufacturer for a price.
