Measure twice – left to right, then right to left – both measurements should be the same. If not measure again.

Don't take measurements if you're renovating until your shower base is installed & your walls are tiled/panelled.

Always put a spirit level on your surfaces to check that your wall & floor are plumb & level. 

Fingers crossed all is level for a clean finish.

If you have an odd sized base you might need to purchase a front only screen & add to that a standard fixed panel or order a custom made panel to suit your space.

Mark your chosen height on both sides of the wall ie 1850 to 2000

Take a measurement of the width (between walls) at the top of the shower and bottom (along the floor). 

If you have a base, measure from internal recess to recess.

If you have a tiled recess, measure between walls.

Record the measurements.

Measuring for a shower enclosure is a little bit different than measuring for a shower door.   With the shower door, you are only concerned with the opening between two walls, but with a shower enclosure, you also have to measure for a return panel from the rear wall to the front of the base.  

But in the case of a tiled recess, you will need to measure from the rear wall to the grout line that indicates the end of the shower base area & add 10mm.  This measurement will be the width of the  fixed panel.

Record your height & the base size or the tiled area you want to cover.  

 If our standard shower screen sizes won't work for you, you've come to the right place.  You can choose a front only panel & add one of our chrome fixed return panels or we can have a custom return panel made for you, in either chrome or matt black.

To measure for a return panel, follow the steps "MEASURING FOR A  STANDARD FRONT & RETURN PANEL "

- When choosing your height keep in mind the finished tile height. 

Will the shower be taller than the top tile?? 

A personal choice, but we would recommend lower to protect your plaster. 

Don't measure for a shower screen, until your base is down & your walls are tiled or panelled.

When choosing your door opening ie left hand or right hand, look around the room at where your vanity, toilet  & towel rails are situated.  If this is the case the Chrome or Matt Black London Box shower enclosure may be an option for you.

 - Our semi frameless screens have a width tolerance of up to 60mm 

Your shower screen will come with an instruction booklet, but we recommend you read our DIY fitting instructions in conjunction with these instructions.

Hack's Glass & Screens can measure & fit your shower screen within our local service area. If you are feeling uncertain about the measuring & fitting processes, we can do it all for you for $110. An extra $40 will be charged if you have porcelain tiles as the channels should be fitted on a day prior to swinging the door, to allow the silicone time to to cure. The quoted fees for are walls that are square & require no alterations for the shower screen to be fitted.  Should any repairs or alterations be required,  these would be billed as extras. If you opt to have your shower screen fitted, please still complete  your order at checkout, using estimated measurements as per the measuring guide.
