USING EXISTING DOOR MEASUREMENTS

If you have an existing door, & you are happy with the fit then we suggest that you measure this door & use these measurements for your new door.

Use this chart to record your measurements, if you've done this before.

All measurements should be the size the door will be once assembled.

Otherwise, please read on further for more detailed instructions.

RECORDING MEASUREMENTS

At checkout you will be asked to choose the door size range that suits your measurements.

When your order is received, we will email you a request for your door height, width, lock side & height. Your order will be processed once these measurements are received.

Please use the following format to record your door measurements in readiness for that email so that your order won't be delayed:

Using existing door measurements:

Width for top & bottom

Height of each side

Lock Height

Lock Side

OR for a new door:

Width for top & bottom less 7mm for single lock & 9mm for triple lock

Height of shortest side less 8mm

Lock Height

Lock Side

Please enter your measurements in this format to ensure door is made to the correct measurements.

All measurements should be the size the door will be once assembled.

Read on for more detailed measuring instructions.

ESTABLISHING A LOCK POSITION or LOCK HEIGHT using an existing lock hole

RECORDING MEASUREMENTS

Measure from top (see figure 1.1 above) to bottom (see figure 1.2 above) on both sides of your door frame, deduct 8mm from the shortest side and record this measurement. Keeping the sides the same length will allow us to build your door square.

door width

ESTABLISHING A LOCK POSITION or LOCK HEIGHT using an existing lock hole

Measure the top, middle & bottom of your door frame, deduct 8mm for your lock. Record these measurements to be entered at checkout.

ESTABLISHING A LOCK POSITION or LOCK HEIGHT using an existing lock hole

ESTABLISHING A LOCK POSITION or LOCK HEIGHT using an existing lock hole

If you have an existing lock hole from a previous door (see above) & are confident that this has clearance from the existing lock, you should use this existing hole based on the “Lock Above & Lock Below” guidelines, then measure from bottom sill to the centre of the lock hole & deduct 4mm. This will be the handle height.

The centre of the lock tongue is the centre of the handle.

If not, remember you should always measure from the outside looking in to determine which side for both lock & hinges. Stand outside & close the main solid door. Establish whether you want the new lock on the left or right hand side, then if you want the new lock above the existing door handle or below.   THE LOCK SIDE IS DETERMINED FROM THE OUTSIDE LOOKING IN

LOCK HEIGHT ABOVE SOLID DOOR HANDLE

LOCK HEIGHT ABOVE SOLID DOOR HANDLE

LOCK HEIGHT ABOVE SOLID DOOR HANDLE

Measure from the bottom sill to the top of the existing solid door handle & add 125mm (as shown above). This will be the new door handle & tongue height.

LOCK HEIGHT below SOLID DOOR HANDLE

LOCK HEIGHT ABOVE SOLID DOOR HANDLE

LOCK HEIGHT ABOVE SOLID DOOR HANDLE

Measure from the bottom sill to the bottom of the existing solid door handle & deduct 60mm (as shown above). This will be the new door handle & tongue height.

POINTS TO NOTE WHEN MEASURING

These doors cannot be disassembled for resizing.  If you mismeasure, we cannot cut the door down - a new door will need to be purchased.  Please read all information before proceeding with your order.

YOU MUST MAKE YOUR OWN DEDUCTIONS - Read this guide carefully before ordering.

The sizes you provide will be the exact size your door will be made - if you are unsure, please see our Hinged Door FAQ's or message your question.

The quoted fees for are door frames that are square & require no alterations for the door to be hung.
